- Toner and Ink Cartridges Restrictions
Due to a Transportation Security Administration mandate, toner and ink cartridges over 16 ounces are prohibited in carry-on and checked baggage.
FIRST & BUSINESS CLASS ALLOWANCE
First and Business Class (all international and domestic flights)
1st – 3rd checked baggage with a with a weight of up to 70lbs / 32kgs in each bag and total dimensions 62 linear inches / 157 linear centimeters no charge.
ECONOMY CLASS ALLOWANCE
USA Domestic Baggage Allowance
When the USA domestic flights are issued on the same ticket as the international sectors, American Airlines domestic baggage allowance is 2 x 23kgs bags per person. If the domestic ticket is issued separately to the international ticket and travel on the domestic flight is outside of 24 hours from the international sectors the first and second checked baggage fee will apply. The checked baggage fees are:
- 1st check baggage fee USD25.00
- 2nd check baggage fee USD35.00

USA to/from Caribbean and Central America Baggage Charges
Customers who purchased tickets on or after February 10, 2011, may check one bag for no charge and a second bag for $30 each way within size and weight limitations. Customers purchasing economy class tickets prior to February 10, 2011, may continue to check two bags at no charge within size and weight limitations. These changes apply for travel on American Airlines, American Eagle and AmericanConnection® flights.

Customers checking in with American Airlines are permitted 1 x 23kgs free allowance and a second bag up to 23kgs at USD60

Canada and Europe to/from South America (excluding Brazil)
Customers who purchase economy class tickets on or after August 30, 2011 may check one bag for no charge and a second bag for $30 USD each way within size and weight limitations. Additionally, customers who are traveling between Canada and Europe (in either direction) and who purchase their tickets on or after August 30, 2011 are subject to a second bag charge of $60 USD/CAD.
Demensions, Weight and Number of Pieces
The maximum amount of baggage each ticketed passenger is allowed free of charge is 2 pieces checked and one carry-on. The size limitation of your luggage is calculated by adding the total outside dimensions of each bag, that is, length + width + height.
