Caring for our team members
American is caring for team members with paid Pandemic Leaves of Absence. If a medical doctor, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or a local public health department professional requires one of our team members to be quarantined because of exposure to a confirmed case of COVID-19 or a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19, American will cover two additional weeks of paid sick leave.
Most team members who work at our headquarters and other groups not involved in operations are permitted to work remotely as part of the company’s COVID-19 response plan. These team members are asked to work with their manager on their return to the office, consistent with best practices for reducing COVID-19 transmission.
